Over 200 Army Troops Give Blood to Jaffna Teaching Hospital

Giving a new humanitarian dimension to the 26th Anniversary commemoration of the 55 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), a group of 200 troops serving the Division HQ and all under command Brigades and Units voluntarily came forward to donate their blood to the Blood Bank at Jaffna Teaching Hospital on Tuesday (13) during arrangements, kept in place at the 55 Division HQ premises in Kadeikadu, Jaffna.

The Officers and Other Ranks of the Division Headquarters, 551, 552 and 553 Infantry Brigades and under command Battalions considering the humanitarian nature of the requirement donated their blood. The medical staff at Jaffna Teaching Hospital praised the Army for the gesture and thanked the 55 Division's initiative in this regard that coincided with their anniversary.

Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division directed the Division's Medical Officer to coordinate the project with the staff at Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
