Outgoing SLAVF Commandant Saluted at HQ in Kosgama

The outgoing Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya relinquished the office of the Commandant of the SLAVF on Sunday (25). The formalities observed at the Headquarters premises in keeping with military traditions commenced with his reviewing of the Guard Turn Out, held in his honour.

The Senior Officer was received by Brigadier Administration, SLAVF Brigadier Christi Jayasinghe and the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel S.A.Y Perera on arrival in the camp premises.

As the troops in the “Rendezvous” ground at the SLAVF in Kosgama were ready to present their salute to one of the outstanding SLAVF Commandants, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya was invited to receive the greetings in the Guard of Honour by the Principal Staff Officer, Brigadier Rohitha Aluvihare as a military formality. Colourfully-dressed elegant Sri Lanka National Guard troops presented the honours to the retiring Senior Officer who received the salute from a special dais.

The Senior Officer in his brief talk to the troops recalled how Volunteer Force members continue to play leading roles in the performance of professional and security roles as the foremost alternative establishment to the regular force of the Army. Further, the Commandant highlighted the importance of the SLAVF’s sustenance in future too. He also expressed gratitude to all ranks, members and civil staff for the support extended to him during his tenure and paid tribute to the memory of fallen SLAVF war heroes in a moving gesture.

The Outgoing Commandant was also awarded a memento in appreciation of his illustrious service to the Volunteer Force.Nike footwear | Klær Nike
