Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP, the outgoing Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) Headquarters, Kosgama was honoured during a formal felicitation ceremony on Friday (06 Oct) at the SLAVF Headquarters.
The Senior Officer was warmly welcomed by Major General M.T.K.R Silva KSP, Deputy Commandant of SLAVF after he was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance. Soon after, he paid a floral tribute to the Parama Weera Vibhushanaya Memorial in memory of fallen war heroes.
Afterwards, he was invited to the saluting dais for receiving the salute of the ceremonial Guard of Honour before he posed for a few group photographs. Later, he handed over his duties and unveiled his portrait as a souvenir at his office.
In addition, he joined All Ranks for a customary lunch hosted on his behalf and received tokens of appreciation from All Ranks as a gesture of goodwill in memory of his tenure at the SLAVF.
During the formal troops address, he recalled the memory of fallen War Heroes and traced the significance of fulfilling responsibilities of every member, for the betterment of this prestigious establishment and conveyed his compliments for future endeavours. Further, the outgoing Commandant extended his gratitude to all the members of the SLAVF who integrated with him in realizing organizational objectives during his tenure of office.
Departure of Major General D.M.K.D.B Pussella RWP RSP amidst good-bye cheers of the Officers and Other Ranks who street lined both sides of the road leading to the Main Gate culminated the day’s agenda. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of SLAVF took part in the event.
