Troops of the Security Force HQ-West (SFHQ-West) on Friday (06 October) bade farewell to the outgoing Commander, SF-West, Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc during a simple ceremony at the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) in Panagoda.
The outgoing Commander, SF-West was warmly welcomed to the Security Force HQ - West premises and was greeted in a customary Guard Turnout and a subsequent Guard of Honour salute.
Subsequently, Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc posed for a group photograph with the SF HQ - West troops.
Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc afterwards during refreshments interacted with the Officers and Other Ranks and expressed his gratitude for their valuable service during his tenure. Subsequently, Divisional and Brigade Commanders presented symbolic mementoes to the outgoing West Commander as tokens of appreciation. A customary farewell dinner the same evening brought the arrangements to an end.
General Officers Commanding of 61 and 14 Infantry Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the SFHQ-West participated in the day’s programme.
