Brigadier (Retd) Jacques Lemay, Regional Armed and Security Forces delegate in Colombo, International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) on Wednesday (25) paid courtesies to General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army on the eve of his relinquishment of duties in Sri Lanka, together with his successor at the Army HQ.
During this cordial meeting, he thanked General Shavendra Silva for the close cooperation and sustained support extended by the Army during his tenure.
General Shavendra Silva reciprocated and gratefully acknowledged the understanding and assistance, extended to the Army all the time.
He also awarded a memento to the outgoing Red Cross delegate and wished him good luck for his new assignments.
At the end of interactions, mementoes were exchanged between both Brigadier (Retd) Jacques Lemay and General Shavendra Silva.
His successor, Major (Retd) Albert Schoneveld was also associated with the courtesy meeting.
