Outgoing Navy Commander Bids Farewell to His Army Counterpart

The outgoing Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage paid a farewell courtesy call on his counterpart in the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake at Army Headquarters on Thursday (26) evening.

The brief interaction saw the Commander of the Army, expressing his best wishes, presented a memento to the outgoing Navy Chief before the visiting Navy Commander was hosted to tea with other senior officers.

As one of the most commended Naval officers in the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, who is possessed with a wealth of experience and academic achievements, took office as the Commander of the Navy on 27 September 2012.

Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera is to succeed him as the new Commander of the Navy beginning 1 July 2014.
