Outgoing Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR Accorded Military Honours at RHQ

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) HQ on Saturday (5) in a fitting goodbye ceremony at the Regimental Centre in Ambepussa bade farewell to one of its exemplary Senior Officers, Major General Jayantha Seneviratne, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR and Commander, Security Forces-West who were to retire from the Army after a distinguished career of more than 35 years of service.

On arrival at the Regimental Centre, Major General Jayantha Seneviratne was warmly welcomed near the Truncheon house by Colonel Dulith Perera, Deputy Centre Commandant and invited him to review the Guard Turnout.

Later, the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Dammika Dissanayake welcomed the Chief Gust at the parade ground and accompanied him to the saluting dais to receive the dignified military parade presented by SLSR troops.

After a symbolic tree-planting, the Colonel of the Regiment paid floral tributes to the SLSR War Heroes' monument inside the RHQ premises and joined all ranks for refreshments at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess where he shared a few thoughts with the attendees. He also signed a few documents in respect of his relinquishment of the appointment in the office as formalities.

Later in the day, he was hosted to a formal dinner at the Regimental Officers’ Mess in accordance with military traditions where the departing Senior Officer was presented with a special memento before he delivered his farewell speech to the gathering. best Running shoes | Nike Shoes
