Outgoing Colonel Commandant CES Honoured in Farewell Salute

The Corps of Engineer Services (CES) HQ at Panagoda bade farewell to Major General Rathnasiri Ganegoda, Commander Forward Maintenance Area-Mullaittivu and Colonel Commandant CES on Friday (10) on the eve of his retirement, having rendered more than 34 years of exemplary and distinguished service to the Corps of Engineer Services, Sri Lanka Army and the Nation.

He was warmly welcomed by Brigadier S.N Kithulgoda, the Centre Commandant CES at the main entrance to be greeted in a Guard Turnout. As the prioritized formality, he was ushered to the CES War Heroes’ Monument in the compound where the day’s Chief Guest saluted the memory of fallen CES War Heroes laying a floral wreath.

After that, Major General Rathnasiri Ganegoda was accorded a colourful Guard of Honour, adhering to strict health guidelines before he appeared for a group photograph with Officers. He afterwards addressed all the Officers present at the CES Officers' Mess.

During an All Rank tea, he shared his a few thoughts with the Officers and other ranks partaking. Then he also paid a visit to WOs' and Sgts' Mess and addressed Warrant Officers and Sergeants.

The event culminated with a street lining given to Major General Rathnasiri Ganegoda with farewell bids "Jaya Sri" by both Officers and Other Ranks, lined up in a row before he departed from the Regimental Headquarters complex of the Corps of Engineer Services.
