Arrangements have been made for all officers and soldiers who are absent without leave (AWOL) whilst on active service in the Sri Lanka Army to formally leave Army with clearance.
These arrangements have been made to coincide with the forthcoming Independence Day, starting from 4th February 2011 and will go on till 12th February 2011. The absentees can report to their respective regimental headquarters and get the official clearance from the Army at special counters opened for this purpose during the specified period.
This should not be considered as a general amnesty but a special concession for the absentees. The arrests of Army deserters who do not report will continue.
