Security Force HQ-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) that has been playing an outstanding humanitarian role by constructing houses for needy families in the peninsula once again laid the cornerstone for another new home in the general area of Uduvil (South) on Wednesday (6) during a simple ceremony.
Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya, a southerner at the invitation of the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya has offered the sponsorship for the construction after the plight of the family of Mrs. K Sahida, the potential recipient was brought to the donor's attention.
9 Sri Lanka Light Infantry troops under the supervision of the 511 Brigade commander of the 51 Division will provide the much-needed manpower for construction work.
The Jaffna SF Commander, together with a few senior officers and family members of the potential recipient laid the foundation-stone at the auspicious minute after Hindu religious observances.
After the foundation-laying ceremony, a stock of dry ration packets were also distributed among few selected families in the same area. Just a few days ago, Jaffna troops vested the 701st new house in another poor family with financial support given by a lady in the South.
