One More in Hospital Dies of COVID-19-NOCPCO

A 60-year old individual from Nugegoda area who was under treatment for COVID-19 at Chilaw Hospital has died on Monday (14). He who came from Bahrain was in quarantine at Carolin Beach Hotel Quarantine Centre (QC) and admitted to hospital after PCR tests confirmed positive, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

As of this morning (15), 28 more persons, all of them expatriates and foreigners were confirmed positive to COVID-19 epidemic. They are from Dubai (13) and in quarantine at Rantembe, Kandakadu and Hotel Jetwing Blue and one (01) person from Qatar at Hotel Ceylon Lodge, one (01) from Kuwait in Iranamadu QC, 04 persons from Bangladesh at Hotel Manandaram QC, 03 Indian Sea Marshals from Negombo Carolin Beach QC, 01 person from India at Negombo Carolin Hotel QC and 05 persons from Bahrain at Super Carol Hotel QC and Negombo Carolin Beach Hotel QC.

By 6.00 this morning (15), the total number of detainees in quarantine at Kandakadu and Senapura Treatment and Rehabilitation Centres for Drug Addicts stands at 649. Of them, 528 individuals are detainees under rehabilitation, 67 staff members, 5 guest staffers, 48 family members and close associates, including 01 person who got in contact with the infected one in the Welikada Prison.

The flight EY 264 from Abu Dhabi with 05 passengers last night and the flight QR 668 from Doha, Qatar with 26 passengers arrived in Sri Lanka and all of them were referred to Quarantine Centres, managed by tri-services after formalities at the airport.

Within the day (15), 11 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 09 persons are from Boossa QC and 02 persons are from Rajagiriya Ayurveda QC.

Likewise, 41,113 individuals by this morning (15) have been sent back home after quarantining. 6,142 persons in 60 tri-service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (14), 1920 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 256,043.

Meanwhile, 09 positive COVID-19 cases after full recovery left hospitals early this morning (15). All of them are expatriates. Since no positive cases have been reported from society other than those arriving from overseas, all Sri Lankans are urged to continue their health practices and help prevention of its transmission as per instructions given by health authorities.
