One More Homeless Family in Mullaittivu Receives Army-built House

An initiative of the 6 Gemunu Watch (6 GW) troops under the Security Force HQ - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) resulted in the construction of a new home for another deserving family in Valluwarpuram, Mullaittivu and warmed it on Thursday (June 29) during a simple ceremony, attended by Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces-MLT.

The beneficiary is married and blessed with three children but was leading a hand to mouth life because of economic hardships when their helpless plight was noticed by the troops. At the request of the 68 Division HQ, several donors, well-wishers and philanthropists in the area came forward to foot the cost of the resources since 6 GW troops volunteered to offer their technical skills and manpower for the construction of a new home for them.

The project was initiated on the directions of the Commander, SF-MLT and Major General S Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 68 Infantry Division. Major S.L.W Dissanayake RSP, Commanding Officer of 6 GW and his troops provided the required professional expertise and manpower under the supervision of Brigadier N.D.P Gunathunga, Commander of 681 Infantry Brigade and completed the project within few weeks.

A simple ceremony, rich with religious rites and rituals inaugurated the new project in the presence of a gathering of the beneficiary's relatives, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks who built the house and villagers.
