Major General Hemantha Bandara, Commander Security Forces-Wanni as the Overall Coordinator for Prevention of COVID- 19 in the District of Vavuniya and the acting District Secretary for Vavuniya Mr. T Thiresh Kumara presided one more round of the coordinating conference on 25 August 2021 at the District Secretariat Office, Vavuniya.
Regional Director of Health Services, Divisional Secretaries, DIG Vavuniya Division, General Officer Commanding, 56 Division, government officials and representatives of traders' associations in Vavuniya participated in the discussion.
The purpose of the meeting was to co-ordinate the mechanism to control fast transmission of COVID-19 pandemic, review the curfew situation and actions to be taken during the curfew period in coordination with the health sector, Police, government officials and representatives of traders' associations in the district.
The Regional Director of Health Services Dr. Mahendran and DMO Vavuniya briefed the situation emphasizing the importance of adhering to health instructions in order to prevent the rapid spreading of the virus among the community. Thereafter, the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni further instructed departmental heads to heed all unnecessary movements, public gatherings, etc during the quarantine curfew.
