One-day Workshop on ‘Psychological Medical Care’ Benefits Attendees

Troops under the 611 Infantry Brigade Headquarters and 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment of the 61 Infantry Division launched a one-day awareness project on ‘Psychological medical care’ for Officers and Other Ranks as well as their immediate family members. The project was held on Sunday (4 June) at the 611 Infantry Brigade premises in Beragala, Kegalle by Dr. Jinanjala Shanika Wijegunasekara under the guidelines given by the Commander, 611 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier K.G.C.M.H Gamlath RSP USP.

The aim of this programme was to provide necessary guidelines for psychological disorders which occur due to several illnesses. This project covered a wide range of psychological disorders, including stress and anxiety, depression, etc. At the same time, the project also provided guidance for the immediate family members of the Officers and Other Ranks regarding various psychological disorders.

Towards the end, the Officers, Other Ranks and their family members who participated in the project expressed their gratitude for the initiative. The project helped them to better understand their psychological disorders and provided them with the guidelines to manage their conditions effectively.

Further, in addition to the medical clinic, Dr. Wijegunasekara also conducted an informative lecture session on Buddhist teachings on (Monday) 05 June at the 611 Brigade premises. The lecture was attended by a group of around 150 Army personnel, including senior Officers and Officers.

This lecture provided space to learn more about Buddhist teaching. Dr. Wijegunasekara provided an in-depth analysis of the basic tenets of Buddhism and their relevance in modern-day life. It was conducted with the blessings of the Commander, Security Forces - West and General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division.
