Officiating Director General Army Health Services Inspects Army Base Hospital, Kilinochchi and Palaly

Brigadier (Dr) W.H.U.D. Wijeratne, Officiating Director General of Army Health Services, conducted an official visit to the Army Base Hospital in Kilinochchi on 23 November 2024. The visit aimed to evaluate the hospital’s operations and review its overall performance.

Upon arrival, the visiting Senior Officer was accorded a ceremonial drive pass and warmly welcomed by Major (Dr) C. Jayasinghe, the Officer Commanding of the hospital. The Officer Commanding provided a detailed briefing on the hospital's capabilities and services, highlighting its pivotal role in delivering healthcare to Army personnel and their families.

During the inspection, the Officiating Director General visited several key areas, including the Outpatient Department (OPD), Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU), dental section, X-ray unit, laboratory, outdoor pharmacy, and ward complex. The hospital, equipped with 45 beds, plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of Army personnel and their dependents.

The visit concluded with the visiting Senior Officer attending lunch at the Officers' Mess and leaving a commendation in the visitors’ book.

Meanwhile, the Senior Officer also visited Army Base Hospital Palaly on 24 November 2024. During the visit, senior officer reviewed the existing healthcare facilities, evaluated the hospital's overall functionality, and identified areas for improvement. Addressing the healthcare staff, he stressed the importance of upgrading medical infrastructure and ensuring adequate health personnel to deliver quality care efficiently.
