Officer Cadets’ of Sri Lanka Military Academy Visit Jaffna

The Officer Cadets Intake 92A, 93B, and SC 21 of Sri Lanka Military Academy visited the Security Forces (Jaffna) on 30 and 31 May 2024. This visit was a part of their course curriculum, designed in order to gain first-hand exposure to understand the function of field formations. On behalf of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, Officer Cadets were warmly welcomed by the Colonel General Staff, Colonel S.D.K.W.M.M.I Weliwita RWP RSP USP psc.

The visiting delegation consisted of 227 local Officer Cadets and 10 Foreign Officer Cadets representing, Kenya, Zambia, Gambia, and Uganda. General Staff Officer 2 (Operations), Major C Weerathunga psc SLAC, gave a comprehensive briefing on the Jaffna Peninsula, the origin and Development of the Security Forces (Jaffna), Role and Task and activities for Military Aid to Civil Community.Subsequentl,the Senior Most Officer Cadet presented a memento to Brigadier (Admin and Quartering, Brigadier A.K Weerasinghe USP, as a token of appreciation and followed by Security Forces presented a memento to mark the visit to Security Forces (Jaffna).

During the visit, delegation mainly visited Thalsewana Army Resort, Jaffna Town, Jaffna Fort, Jaffna Library, General Denzil Kobbakaduwa Memorial, CIMIC Park - 51 Infantry Division, Dambakola Patuna, Sangupitiya Bridge, War Heroes Monument – Elephant Pass and Monument -Kilinochchi.

The visiting delegation also had a rare opportunity to have an interactive session followed by dinner with Staff Officers of Security Forces (Jaffna) at the Thalsewana Army Resort.

Senior Officers, Officers of the Security Forces (Jaffna), and the Sri Lanka Military Academy participated in the event.
