NVQ Qualified Armed Forces Personnel Awarded Certificates at Army HQ

The final certificate-awarding ceremony for personnel who successfully qualified in the internationally recognised National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 after completing various technical courses at the Ranaviru Resource Centre (RRC), took place during a simple ceremony this morning (29 Apr) at the Army Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, adding importance to the achievements, graced the awarding ceremony as the Chief Guest together with Mrs. Janaki Liyanage, the President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit.

Major General S.P.A.I.M.B Samarakoon Hdmc Lsc, Deputy Chief of Staff, along with Brigadier P.N Wijesiriwardena RSP USP, Commandant of RRC, welcomed the day’s Chief Guest upon his arrival at the premises. After observing a two-minute silence in remembrance of fallen War Heroes, the Commandant of RRC welcomed the audience during his speech.

Then, a video clip was displayed showcasing the accomplishments of the Army-run RRC at Hekiththa, including a range of technical courses such as the Carpentry (Building) Course, Electronic Appliances Technician Course, Hair and Beautician Course, Three-wheeler and Motorbike Repairing Course, Computer Hardware Course, Aluminum Fabrication Course, Landscaping Technician Course, and Computer Application Assistant Course for personnel of Tri-Services, Police, and Civil Security Department.

During the certificate awarding session, the Commander of the Army and Major General M.E.P Weerasinghe (Rtd) VSV USP ato, Director General of the Vocational Training Authority (VTA), symbolically awarded certificates to 18 selected participants representing a total of 167 attendees.

During the ceremony, participants of the Hair and Beautician Course displayed a Bridal Show, and participants of the Three-wheeler and Motorbike Repairing Course showcased their skills by assembling a motorbike. A few aesthetic events added colour to the simple ceremony.

Towards the end, an exchange of tokens of appreciation took place, symbolizing the long-lasting goodwill among organizations. Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu, the Adjutant General, Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Director General Financial Management, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks were also present during the ceremony.
