Now, Women’s Corps Ladies Want Their Share Increased in Society

Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) with the avowed interest in getting greater participation in leadership roles in peace and security for maintenance of sustainable development goals (SDGs) is set to take the lead in creating a forum for women to discuss women’s contribution to the country at large under the guidance of the Commander of the Army, a Media briefing held this afternoon (27) at Colombo Hilton Residences was told.

SLAWC using the banner theme, ‘Women: the Bedrock of Peace and Sustainable Development’ is to invite a huge gathering of 450 ladies from a wide variety of professional spheres, belonging to different social strata of women in society for the proposed Symposium at BMICH on 4 December.

The Symposium will also serve a platform for learning and interacting as women’s participation in leading decision-making roles since they are also still under represented in our society. The first ever Symposium of this nature organized by the SLAWC is to be segmented into various topics according to the organizers.
