Now, SLCMP War Hero Gets New House under Commander's 'House Construction' Initiative

A new house, built in Maho area for a differently able War Hero of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) was vested in him during a simple ceremony on Thursday (18) in line with the instructions issued by the Army HQ.

Financial sponsorship provided by the Directorate of Veterans Affairs in the Army and 1 of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, enabled 1 SLCMP Regiment troops to carry out the construction work at a cost of about Rs 1.4 million. The house was constructed on a conceptualized notion, submitted by the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva who instructed all Regiments to step up their housing projects to help the homeless in the Army.

On the guidelines given by the Commander Logistics Command & Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Major General Ranjan Premalal, the house was built under the supervision of the Commanding Officer of the 1 Regiment SLCMP, Lieutenant Colonel Nilantha Rathnayaka.

Concomitantly, essential household equipment, electrical fittings and a stock furniture were also gifted to the beneficiary with the intention of facilitating a comfortable livelihood to all of them. Religious observances, unveiling of a plaque, milk-pot boiling rituals, etc marked the warming of the new home.
