The Presidential Task Force (PTF) at the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), chaired by Head of the NOCPCO, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army got underway on Friday (15) at the NOCPCO at Rajagiriya.
Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva welcomed the members of the Presidential Task Force and guests who attended the meet at first and stated that the purpose of the meeting was to re-visit the updates and present status of the epidemic. He briefed on the status including PCR tests, arrivals of expatriates, and well-being of the public in society as well as measures still being implemented by all stakeholders.
The gathering was also told about repatriation of students from Russia and Belarus in the coming days and other measures being launched to arrest the control of the virus. Afterwards, experts in the PTF at the NOCPCO shared views on different aspects of the pandemic in parallel to developments in the region and elsewhere.
Towards the end, Head of NOCPCO Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army thanked the members for presenting their valuable ideas and suggestions.
