The newly-promoted Major General Krishantha Gnanaratne, Commndant at Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) was felicitated on Thursday (11) at Diyatalawa SLMA when he arrived there after his promotion.
A Guard Turnout presented by troops at the entrance greeted the veteran Senior Officer on arrival before he was ushered to pay floral tributes to the memory of fallen War Heroes as a formality at the ‘Monument of Peace’.
The day's ceremony reached its apex with the ceremonial Guard of Honor, acorded to him as a mark of respect to the Senior Officer. The parade included a Colours Squad, the Academy's Sergeant Major and 48 Officer Cadets who paraded with honour and pride.
To leave a living memory, he was then invited to plant a 'Sandalwood' sapling in the premises before he addressed the troops and joined for refreshments.
In his brief address, he underscored the importance of discipline, commitment to the job and togetherness in achieving organizational goals and the Army’s vision in transforming into a professional Army.
