Recently promoted Major Generals received their symbols of authority and greetings from the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, during a formal courtesy call held today (25 November 2024) at the Commander’s Office.
The newly promoted Senior Officers are Major General K.N.D. Karunapala RSP ndu of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major General G.S. Fonseka USP psc of the Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Major General S.P.G. Gamage RWP RSP USP of the Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General H.C.L. Galappaththi RSP USP of the Gemunu Watch, Major General K.T.P. de Silva RSP ndu psc of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major General M.P.N.A. Muthumala USP psc of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Major General K.D.M.L. Samaradiwakara RWP RSP ndc psc of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, and Major General K.J.N.M.P.K. Nawarathna RWP RSP ndu of the Gemunu Watch.
The Commander of the Army extended his heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the newly promoted Major Generals, who have dedicated more than three decades of service to the nation.
Following cordial interactions, the Commander of the Army presented each Senior Officer with the symbolic General’s sword, signifying their new authority as two-star Generals. The Senior Officers, expressing their gratitude to the Commander for his warm wishes, added memories to the occasion by posing for several photographs.
