Newly Enlisted 'Api Army' Professionals Pass out to Serve the Nation

Professionals, enlisted recently under the ‘Api Army’ programme to different rank structures of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force General Reserve, passed-out after pledging  their  allegiance to serve the Nation during a Passing-out ceremony, graced by Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force Major General Lalith Daulagala as the Chief Guest on successful completion of the basic military training course at the Volunteer Force Training School, Diyatalawa on Saturday (23).

The parade which included forty four professionals was commanded by Major A.T Hajji Chief Instructor of the Training School and Maj H.G.K.S Dharmadasa, Adjutant of the Training School as the Second in Command.

The Chief Guest on arrival to the venue was warmly received by Major General Lawrence Wickramasinghe, Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and invited to review the Guard Turn-Out, accorded in his honour by the troops of the Camp.

Subsequently, he was ushered to the saluting dais at the parade ground. After inspecting the Parade the awarding of the swords to the Officer Cadets which has been a tradition was done by the Chief Guest. It also symbolizes incomparability in the noble profession of good soldiering.  

Afterwards, Major General Daulagala addressing the Officer Cadets extended his felicitations to the professionals on their right decision to join the Army and complimented for excellent standards of drill, poise, dignity and graceful bearing displayed in the ceremonial uniforms, which bear testimony to the quality of training imparted from this institution.  He further touched on several areas of concern to them, underlining the importance of the responsibility of joining the victorious Army and serving the Nation while contributing  to the nation-building development projects on the basis of generous principle 'First the Country, Second the Self'.

Just before the culmination of the day’s programme, the Chief Guest posed for the group photograph of the Course after which everybody was invited for tea.

Army Training Command Commander (ARTRC) Major General P P de Silva, the Principal Staff Officer Brig W A N M Weerasinghe, Commandant of Volunteer Force Training School Col S B Kohona, senior Officers and family members of passing out professionals were also present at the ceremony.

On account of the Fall Out of these Officers, an elegant dinner night was who organized at the Officer Cadets Mess of the prestigious Sri Lanka Military Academy in Diyatalawa on 22 August, attended by Major General Lalith Daulagala Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General Lawrence Wickramasinghe the Deputy Commandant, Major General Prasanna de Silva Army Training Command Commander, Brigadier Nevil Weerasinghe Principal Staff Officer of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Brigadier Rienzi Perera, Brigadier Administration, Col Senerath Kohona Volunteer Force Training School Commandant and Course Officers.
