Newly-appointed VIR Center Commandant Assumes Duties

The newly appointed Center Commandant of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Brigadier W.S. Ariyasinghe assumed duties on 22 October amid the presence of officers and other ranks at the Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane.

After receiving a Guard Turnout, presented by VIR troops on his arrival, Brigadier Ariyasinghe paid tribute to the fallen war heroes at the VIR War Heroes Monument and placed his signature in an official document, amidst religious observances, symbolizing the assumption of duties.

A troop address, planting of a tree sapling and an all rank tea party culminated the day’s proceedings.
