Newly Appointed Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR Takes Over Duties

Major General Jayantha Seneviratne took office as 13th Colonel of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) on Monday (18) amid military formalities at the SLSR Regimental Centre in Ambepussa.

The new Colonel of the Regiment on arrival at the premises was ushered warmly received by Brigadier Ajith Pallawela, SLSR RHQ Centre Commandant before he was ushered to pay tribute to the memory of fallen SLSR War Heroes.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks too joined him to lay wreaths at the War Heroe’ monument since the occasion coincided with the 11th National War Heroes’ Day which was to be commemorated on the following day (19).

Major General Jayantha Seneviratne amid religious blessings afterwards left his signature for an official document and symbolized the acceptance of his new office. All Staff Officers serving in the SLSR Regimental Centre were present at the auspicious inauguration of the new office.

Afterwards, he planted a ‘Mango’ sapling in the premises as a symbol of memory and joined an all rank tea arrangement at the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess where he shared thoughts and pleasantries with the troops and recalled his yesteryear memories.

Setting out his scope of work and duties, Major General Seneviratne addressed Officers as the next item on the agenda and outlined the importance of working as a team for the progress of the regiment and the organization while promoting its image.

Later, adding memories to the event, he posed for a group photograph with the troops present on the occasion before all moved out for a special lunch.
