Newly Appointed Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps Begins Duties

Major General S Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc, assumed duties as the 25th Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) on 04 April 2024 during a brief ceremony, held at the Regimental Centre, SLAWC.

The newly appointed Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by Regimental Staff Officers and then honoured in a Guard Turnout.

After a short while, the newly appointed Colonel Commandant was invited to the parade square to receive the salute in the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour by SLAWC troops at the Regimental Headquarters. As the next item of the agenda, the new Colonel Commandant paid tribute to the memory of fallen War Heroines at the SLAWC monument by offering flowers.

Then, symbolizing his acceptance of the new office amidst religious observances, he, left his signature in an official document in the presence of a gathering of Senior Officers. Adding memories to the day, the Senior Officer was invited to pose for a few group photographs with the Regimental staff.

Further, setting out his scope of work and duties, Major General S Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc addressed the troops as a formality and emphasized the importance of working as a team to protect the image of the Regiment.

Towards the end of the day’s ceremony, the Colonel Commandant participated in an All-Ranks tea and took time off to share views with the attendees.
