Major General A.M.K.G.P.S.K Abeysinghe, Director General Budget & Financial Management was appointed as the 18th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) and assumed his duties with military formalities on 15 July 2024 at the Regimental Headquarters SLAGSC.
The incoming Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed upon arrival at the SLAGSC premises by the Centre Commandant and was accorded a Guard Turnout. Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ monument to pay tribute to the fallen heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland. Then, he was honoured in a Guard of Honour.
Afterwards, Colonel Commandant took up his new responsibilities amidst religious observances in the presence of Senior Officers and the staff of the Regimental Headquarters.
As the next event of the day's ceremony, the Senior Officer attended tea with all Ranks followed by the troops address.
