The recently- appointed Commander, Security Forces-West, Major General Senarath Yapa recently made formal visits to the 611 Brigade in Kegalle and spoke to the troops.
The visiting Commander, Security Forces -West was welcomed by Brigadier Janaka Udowita, Commander 611 Brigade at the camp entrance.
Afterwards, Commanding officers under command to 611 Brigade, 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and 8 Gemunu Watch briefed the day's visitor on the security contingency plan, duties pertaining to the control of COVID- 19, etc before commencement of a discussion to the same effect. He was then invited to plant a sapling as a symbol of memory before he addressed all Non Commissioned Officers in the Brigade.
As part of his itinerary, he visited the ICC, located in the Kegalle Teaching Hospital, Kegalle and the one at the Institute of Technology Quarantine Centre, ICC Centre at Rambukkana Brandix where he shared a few thoughts with Officers serving there.
Later on, the visiting West Commander had a discussion with government authorities, including Mr Mahinda Weerasuriya, District Secretary for Kegalle, Mrs Vijayani Rathnasekara, Divisional Secretary Mawanella, Mr K.G.S Nishantha, Divisional Secretary Kegalle, Dr Kumar Wickramasingha, District Director Medical Services, Regional Educational Director Kegalle, Director Kegalle Teaching Hospital, et al.
At the end of the discussion, Major General Sujeewa Senerath Yapa visited the organic fertilizer project inside the 8SLSR.
Major General Dammi Hewage, General Officer Commanding, 61 Division, few Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the itinerary.
