New Two-Storied Wing to Increase Capacity in Palaly Army Base Hospital

To coincide with the Victory Day and War Heroes' Commemoration, the Palaly Army Base Hospital is to be further expanded and improved adding a new two-storied building with wards.

Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna on Monday (17) laid the cornerstone for the construction of this two-story building

Major General Priyantha Perera graced this brief but ritual-rich cornerstone-laying ceremony as the Chief Guest. He was greeted in a drive-past on arrival and warmly welcomed by Major Lahiru Rathnaweera, Commanding Officer of the Army Base Hospital at Palaly.

As the auspicious minute struck, amid chanting of 'Seth Pirith', the day's guest laid the first cornerstone for construction of the new two-story building complex. Brigadier Wanditha Mahinkanda, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area -North and Senior Officers followed suit and joined the occasion.

This proposed 180 X 50 feet new two-story building is to be completed within a few months by Army funds and the combined support of Army Engineers and troops of the SFHQ-Jaffna under the supervision of 5 Corps of Engineer Services (CES) Regiment.

The visiting Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) planted a 'Sandalwood' sapling in the Army Base Hospital premises to mark his visit and a group photograph followed. Finally, the Commander Security Forces- Jaffna penned his thoughts and left memories in the visitors’ book.

The Brigadier General Staff, Staff Officers of the Security Force HQ -Jaffna, Commanding Officers of under command battalions and soldiers at the Army Base Hospital Palaly took part in the event, adhering to all guidelines set by health authorities.
