A formal military ceremony at Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Regimental Headquarters at Ambepussa on Saturday (4), greeted Brigadier M.A.M Dias upon his recent promotion to the rank of Major General.
A parade at the SLSR Headquarters greeted the newly-promoted Major General M.A.M Dias on arrival at the premises. Afterwards, Major General Boniface Perera, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR greeted the new officer with a memento when the latter, called on him as per military traditions.
Major General M.A.M Dias who has held a number of reputed appointments in various SFHQs, Divisions, Brigades and other formations, was the General Officer Commanding 54 Division in Mannar at the time he was appointed to this rank in the Army.
Major General M.A.M Dias a few days ago assumed duties as General Officer Commanding in Puttlam-based 53 Division Headquarters.
