New SLSC Colonel Commandant Makes Formal Visit to the East

Major General Ashoka Peiris, the Chief Signal Officer and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) paid his first official visit to the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Signal Corps camp on Friday (20) after assuming duties as the Chief Signal Officer and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Signal Corps.

The day's Chief Guest was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer - 2 (V) SLSC, Lieutenant Colonel B.P Udage and accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout by 2(V) SLSC troops.

Thereafter, he was invited for a group photograph before he planted a Mango sapling in front of the Regimental Headquarters premises to mark his visit.

Subsequently, the Chief Guest addressed the troops where he outlined his vision on the future development of Signallers as multi-tasked Signallers. Then the Colonel Commandant joined for an All Rank tea, where he shared his thoughts with Officers and Other Ranks and then the Commanding Officer accompanied him to open the newly-constructed Information & Communications Technology Training Lab.

Afterwards, the Commanding Officer delivered a comprehensive briefing about the role and tasks of 2(V) SLSC at the SFHQ-East, the prevailing communication status of the SFHQ -East on administrative and logistic matters in the unit, ongoing projects and future requirements of the unit.

Major General Asoka Peiris also visited the camp and appreciated the efforts, taken by the Commanding Officer and All Ranks to develop professional standards of the camp within 12 months of redeployment at Dalukana. Colonel Commandant also left a couple of thoughts and compliments in the Visitors’ Book at the Officers’ Mess before the departure.
