New SLAWC Colonel Commandant Assumes Duties

Major General Priyantha Perera assumed office as the 20th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC), amid religious blessings on Tuesday (8) during a simple ceremony, held at the SLAWC Regimental Headquarters, Borella.

The day’s programme kicked off after Major General Priyantha Perera on arrival was greeted to a Guard Turnout, presented by SLAWC troops at the entrance after she was warmly welcomed by Brigadier Janaka Rathnayake, Center Commandant, SLAWC.

Amidst blessings of members of the Maha Sangha, the new Colonel Commandant afterwards signed a formal document and marked the assumption of his new office.

As a formality, the newly-appointed Colonel Commandant, Major General Priyantha Perera then addressed all ranks in the SLAWC before he joined an all rank tea in the camp premises. He also inspected the construction work in progress inside the Regimental HQ premises
