New SLA Colonel Commandant Takes Office

Major General W. Ruwan de Silva assumed office as the 19th Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) on Saturday (27) in a military ceremony, held at the SLA Regimental Headquarters at Panagoda.

He succeeds Major General Rukmal Dias who just retired from the Army after an exemplary service.

He revered the fallen war heroes of the Regiment by laying a floral wreath at the Regimental monument expressing his utmost concern towards them as the foremost event of the ceremony on arrival at the premises. Then he reviewed the Guard Turnout presented by the RHQ and accepted the Regimental salute accorded by members of the Regiment in a parade which included Regimental Colours.

As a symbolic gesture of taking over the command, Major General Ruwan de Silva placed his signature in a formal document in the presence of Council members, Commanding Officers and staff at the RHQ after brief religious observances and lighting of the traditional oil lamp. The day's events also threw refreshments at the Warrant Officers' & Sergeants' Mess. An address to the Officers at the Officers' Mess brought the day's event to culmination.

Major General Ruwan de Silva is the most senior Gunner Officer serving in the Regiment and is also currently holding the office as the Military Secretary (MS). Sports brands | GOLF NIKE SHOES
