Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc assumed office as the 31st Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF - J) on 24 January 2024, amidst religious rituals and military formalities.
The day's itinerary commenced with a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour by the 1 Mechanized Infantry Regiment troops. Afterwards, the newly-appointed Commander, SF - J, left his signature on an official document signifying the acceptance of his new office amidst the chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha and in the presence of multi-religious clergy.
Following this, he posed for a few group photographs and planted a sapling on the premises before paying floral tribute to the Palaly War Heroes' Monument in remembrance of fallen War Heroes.
Furthermore, he addressed the troops followed by All-Ranks tea, culminating the day’s event.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the occasion.
