New SF-East Commander Takes Reins amidst Military & Religious Formalities

Major General J. Chinthaka Gamage on Saturday (8) assumed office as the 20th Commander of the Security Forces - East amidst religious observances and traditional military formalities at the Security Force Headquarters (SF) premises, Welikanda.

On his arrival at the Security Force Headquarters - East premises, a Guard Turnout presented by 7 Field Engineer Regiment troops greeted the new Commander. The Brigadier Admin & Quartering SFHQ - E Brigadier Priyantha Weerasinghe received him warmly at the entrance. Brigadier General Staff SFHQ - E Brigadier Manoj Lamahewa invited the incoming Security Forces Commander to review the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour by the troops of the Sri Lanka Corps of Engineers.

The newly-appointed Security Force Commander symbolically signed an official document afterwards to signify the acceptance of the new appointment while monks were chanting Seth Pirith. A few minutes later, the Security Force Commander planted a 'Mango' sapling at the Headquarters premises before the new Security Force Commander addressed all officers who attended the occasion.
