New Seva Vanitha President Assumes Duties


Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, new President, Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) assumed duties on Friday (2) morning at the SVAB Headquarters after a brief ceremony that preceded religious observances, rites and rituals of all major faiths.

Mrs Ratnayake on arrival was received by Mrs Nayana de Silva, Vice President, SVAB, offering a bouquet of flowers. She was afterwards conducted to the office in a cultural procession. 

Afterwards, amidst Seth Pirith of the Maha Sangha and blessings of all religion clergy, she inaugurated the office after lighting the traditional oil lamp.
 
Signifying the acceptance of the SVAB office, Mrs Ratnayake afterwards placed her signature for an official document.

Chairpersons of Regimental Seva Vanitha Units and Sri Lanka Light Infantry Seva Vanitha Units attended the occasion and wished the new Chairperson good luck with her new appointment. A group photo plus a tea table culminated the day’s simple ceremony. A few senior officers and a gathering of SVAB members were present at the occasion.
