New Recruits at Puttalam SLARTC Pass Out in Colourful Parade

The Sri Lanka Army Recruit Training Centre (SLARTC) at Puttalam, situated in the 58 Division HQ premises had its Passing Out Parade (POP) of 438 new recruits in its Basic Recruit Course No 88 during a ceremony on Thursday (22), headed by Major General Champaka Ranasingha, General Officer Commanding, 58 Division HQ as the Chief Guest at the invitation of SLARTC Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Indika Kamalgoda.

The training that lasted for more than five months was attended by new recruits of eight Regiments in the Army. The day’s Chief Guest reviewed the parade with the parade commander. Afterwards, he received the salute from a special dais before merit awards were given away to the best ones in the whole batch of recruits.

Awards included the Best Recruit, Best in Physical Training Recruit, Best Shooter. This POP ceremony was confined only to formalities with minimum participations of the relatives of those recruits due to COVID-19 health regulations.
