Major General A.G.D.N Jayasundera, Colonel of the Regiment, Mechanized Infantry Regiment paid his first official visit to the 3rd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment on Wednesday (26).
The Colonel of the Regiment was warmly welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel D.M.M Dissanayaka, MIR Commanding Officer. A formal Guard Turnout welcomed him.
Colonel K.K.S Perakum, Deputy Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Colonel A.H.A.D Ariyasena, Commanding Officer, Recruit Training Wing, Army Training School along with Regimental Staff Officers accompanied the Colonel of the Regiment.
Thereafter, Colonel of the Regiment posed for a group photograph followed by planting of a sapling, formal briefing, troops address, all rank tea party and a camp visit. During the camp visit, Colonel of the Regiment declared opened the newly-constructed 100 x 20 building and newly constructed TV Room as main events of the day’s itinerary.
