New Mess Building for Sgts &;amp; WOs in SLLI Opened

The new two-storied mess building for accommodation of Sergeants and Warrant Officers in the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda was invested in them during a simple ceremony on Tuesday (24).

Major General Amal Karunasekara, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI at the invitation of Colonel Channa Weerasooriya, SLLI Centre Commandant unveiled a plaque and opened the new mess amid Seth Pirith chanting in the presence of a gathering of SLLI senior officers.

The opening ceremony followed the presentation of souvenirs to a segment of retired Sergeants and Warrant Officers who had gone on retirement after serving the SLLI for more than 22 years. Major General Karunasekara as the Chief Guest gave away those souvenirs.

This long-felt need for serving Sergeants and Warrant Officers was made a reality following the close supervision of Colonel Channa Weerasooriya, SLLI Centre Commandant at Panagoda.
