On the request made by the Basnayake Nilame of Ruhunu Katharagama Maha Dewalaya, the General Officer Commanding of the 12 Infantry Division took prompt action to construct a new kitchen facility for the Dewalaya and a new staircase for devotees to access from the Menik River to the Dewalaya premises.
Troops of the Engineer Service attached to the 12 Infantry Division, 18 Gemunu Watch and 3 Sri Lanka National Guard provided their assistance to successfully complete the project in less than four weeks.
