Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku who assumed office as the 26th Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, made his first field visit to the 55 Division Headquarters on Saturday (24).
The Security Force Commander was warmly welcomed by Major General Mahinda Jayawardena, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division and was accorded a drive-past Guard Turnout at the main entrance. Afterwards, he addressed the troops at the gymnasium followed by planting of a sapling before joining an all rank tea party. During the visit, the Commander Security Forces was briefed on respective responsibilities by the General Officer Commanding of the 55 Division.
Later on, the Security Force Commander visited Chundikulam area and the 553 Brigade, 10 (V) VIR Battalion, soldiers of the 10 VIR, Battalion Training School at Periyapachchapalai and the 551 Brigade area in Point Pedro with the intention of familiarizing with the areas.
Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and troops of the 55 Division were present during those visits.
