Brigadier Chandana Ranaweera assumed duties as the 41th Commandant at Minneriya Infantry Training Center (ITC) amid religious blessings at the ITC office premises on Tuesday (21).
The newly-appointed Commandant was warmly welcomed by Colonel Saliya Dias, Commanding Officer and honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by ITC troops on arrival. Afterwards, Brigadier Ranaweera placed his signature in an official document to mark his assumption of duties. Later on, he was invited to plant a sapling in the compound as a gesture of memory.
An All Rank tea and his formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks culminated the day’s proceedings. Officers, Other Ranks and ITC staff were present at the occasion.
