The newly appointed 33rd Inspector General of the Police (IGP) Mr N.K Illangakoon Friday (15) morning paid a courtesy call on Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Commander of the Army at Army Headquarters.
The visiting Police Chief at the entrance to the Army Headquarters received the Guard Turn Out and the Guard of Honour, accorded in his honour by Sri Lanka Artillery troops.
Afterwards, Major General D.R.A.B Jayatillake, Commander, Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, in accordance with formalities introduced Principal Staff Officers to the visiting Head of the Police who in turn extended their greetings and best wishes for his new appointment.
Later on, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya after extending him a warm welcome to the former’s office exchanged a couple of thoughts on both the Police and the Army with Mr Illangakoon during their meeting at the office of the Commander.
Towards the end of the meeting, the Commander signifying the importance of the interaction and his visit to the Army Headquarters presented him with a special memento. Mr Illangakoon reciprocated with the same gesture of goodwill.
