NEWLY APPOINTED thirty-first Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Sri Lanka Jayantha Wickramarathna this morning (11) paid a courtesy call on Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka at the Army Headquarters upon his assumption of duties.
Mr Wickramarathna on arrival at the Headquarters premises was accorded a Guard of Honour and was later introduced to Chief of Staff, Principal Staff Officers and Directors before he was conducted to the office of the Army Commander.
The visiting Police Chief had a brief exchange of views with the Commander in relation to security related matters and Commander extended his warm greetings on his new appointment. To symbolize the memorable occasion both new IGP and the Commander exchanged mementos at the end of the day's ceremony.
The visiting Police Chief also left his signature on the VIP book at Commander's office.
