Major General Lal Chandrasiri, Commander Security Forces - East, vested a newly-constructed house for a needy family in Mangalagama, Keviliyamadu in Batticaloa district during his maiden field visit to the 11 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment on Sunday (26).
The veteran Psychologist and Personality Development Consultant, Positive Thinking Lecturer and Writer Mr Chandana Gunawardena who passed away a few days ago has provided the sponsorship for its construction at the request of the SFHQ-East after the living condition of the family of Mrs A M Nandani living in Keviliyamadu area was noticed by the Army troops serving the area.
11 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops with funds made available by late Mr Chandana Gunawardena constructed the house for the needy family.
Subsequent to religious observances and warming rites and rituals, keys of the house were handed over to the beneficiary during a brief ceremony by the Commander Security Force - East who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Several household appliances were also gifted to the family at the same occasion.
General Officer Commanding of 23 Division Major General Nalin Koswatte , Brigadier General Staff of the SFHQ-(E), Commander 231 Brigade, Commanding Officer of 11 (V) Battalion of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and family members of the beneficiary along with civilians in the village were present at the brief ceremony.
