The newly-appointed High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, Major General (Retd) Umar Farooq Burki, Hilal-i-Imtiaz paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva on Friday (18) afternoon at the Army Headquarters.
Pakistan’s new High Commissioner in Sri Lanka during cordial discussions that ensued recalled friendly and sound relations that exist between both nations for so many years as well as ongoing exchange programmes, related particularly to participation of armed forces in training programmes and other exchange modules of both countries.
General Shavendra Silva after extending warm greetings on his new appointment assured him of his best cooperation and the cordial meet culminated with exchange of mementos.
Colonel Muhammad Safdar, Defence Adviser at High Commission of Pakistan was also associated with the courtesy meeting.
