New GOC in the Army Engineer Division Takes Over Duties

The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, Major General Mahinda Jayawardena assumed duties on Wednesday (22) during a simple ceremony at the Divisional Headquarters at Mattegoda Army Camp.

At the outset, the incoming General Officer Commanding was warmly welcomed by staff officers and other ranks of the Division on his arrival. The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding afterwards placed his signature for an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office. Prior to this new appointment, Major General Mahinda Jayawardena served as the General Officer Commanding of the 55 Division.

He succeeds Major General Chandana Wijesundara who has now been appointed as the Chief Field Engineer at the Army HQ.
