Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the newly-appointed Commander of Security Forces - East (SF-E) familiarized with his under command troops and interacted with troops in the 24 Infantry Division, under command Brigades and Battalions during 20 and 21 June.
At first, he arrived at the 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (18 VIR) camp on Tuesday (June 20) morning and was warmly welcomed by Major General W. Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division together with Colonel L.S.D.N Pathirathna RSP USP, Commander of 241 Infantry Brigade and the 18 VIR Commanding Officer.
Subsequently, the Commander visited the 241 Infantry Brigade, 8 Sri Lanka National Guard, 242 Infantry Brigade, and 23 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment camps according to the agenda before he arrived at the Muhudu Maha Viharaya as a tradition and received blessings from the members of the Maha Sangha and concluded the first day’s programme.
Starting the second day of his visit on Wednesday (June 21), Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc visited the Buddhangala Temple and thereafter visited the Deegavapiya Temple to observe the renovation project of the Stupa. At both temples, he participated in religious observances and participated in blessings.
Later, he arrived at the 11th and 16th Battalions of the Sri Lanka National Guard camps. During his visits, he was accorded Guard Turnouts and briefed on the areas at each location before he addressed the troops. Symbolizing the visits, he was invited to plant saplings and was invited to pose for group photographs in each compound. He made complimentary remarks in each location before his departure.
General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were also associated with those events.
