New Director Sports Assumes Office

Brigadier G.A.T Godewatte RWP RSP of Gajaba Regiment assumed duties as the new Director Sports at the Directorate of Sports in Panagoda on Wednesday (29 Nov) during a brief religious ceremony.

The incoming new Director symbolically placed his signature for a formal document amid chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha signifying the acceptance of the new appointment at the auspicious minute.

He succeeds Major General P.A.M Peiris RSP USP psc who has now been appointed as the General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division.

The new Director, Brigadier G.A.T Godewatte RWP RSP served as the Overall Security Coordinator at the Army HQ and Project Officer of the four-story Multi Facility Complex at Maitland Place prior to this appointment.

Further, setting out his scope of work and duties, the newly-appointed Director Sports, afterwards addressed the troops as a formality and visited the compound before interacting with troops during an All-Rank tea.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Directorate of Sports were present at the occasion.
