New Digital Centre for Rehabilitating Tamil Youth Opened

HE THE PRESIDENT Mahinda Rajapaksa during his recent tour to Vavuniya opened a new Digital Technology Education Centre, meant to give education on Digital Technology and IT to youth under rehabilitation at Rehabilitation Centre in Pampemadu, Vavuniya.

The new centre, run jointly by the office of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation and Sri Lanka Army consists of 30 computers and it was established with the sponsorship received from Virtusa Computer Institute. 

 During this ceremony, 1296 former LTTE cadres including 703 males, 407 females, 155 children and 31 university students were symbolically handed over to their parents/adults by HE the President.

Ministers Rishard Badhurdeen and Douglas Devananda, Major General (Retd) G.A Chandrasiri, Governor of the Northern Province, Mrs. P.S.M Charles, District Secretary of Vavuniya, Major General R.M.D Rathnayake, former Commissioner General of Rehabilitation and Army Chief of Staff, Major General G.D.H.K Gunerathne, Commander Security Forces, Wanni, Brigadier S. Ranasinghe, Commissioner General of Rehabilitation and a number of government officials and Army officers attended the event.
